Okay so I know Trojan probably doesn't give a damn that I am making this cut, but a lot of AusNTM fans would be shocked and horrified. I can make up a bunch of reasons about why Laura deserves to be saved more than Duckie but the truth is I have a racial bias - I feel like Asian contestants in all Top Model franchises (except Asia's NTM obv) get severely jilted and this is my opportunity to push one through, even if she's not exactly the shining light of the Asian model community (to be honest it's more often the case with American girls, but yeah).

So... SORRY DUCKIE but you gotta go.

I was never actually a big fan of Duckie on the show anyway, like for me it was all about Shanali, Dajana and Jade. Abbie a near 4th. Duckie I could see why the judges liked her but eh whatever I didn't really care. And looking at her post-show work, she's actually kind of a shit model anyway? So.. this cut really isn't as tragic as it could've been.

In the show, Duckie was never that girl you looked at and thought "damn she could WIN!" because for the first half she was top half but not top, and then managed to end up in a bottom 2 situation with winner Melissa. The TRAGIC thing about that episode was that Taylah got disqualified for choking Ashley during a challenge paint fight and so both girls got to stay - to think this could've been the moment Melissa got sent home




The very next episode - half way in to the competition, something WEIRD happens. Duckie manages to get awarded photo of the week with the fakest looking smile and disgusting pink hair:




It's at this point in the competition it starts becoming clear that the judges LIKE Duckie. Sometimes you can tell that the judges love someone despite the pictures they produce because they start getting tons of praise for... shit. The way a lot of people look back at cycle 8, you would think Duckie was an amazing contestant who would have been a decent alternative to Melissa for the cycle win. This is bullshit Of the Final 3 girls, only Shanali should have won based on her portfolio. Abbie, the 4th-placed girl was clearly rigged out of the finale as well, I mean it was a big joke really.

So anyway, the second half of the cycle, Duckie starts receiving praise like every single week no matter what she produces, and that includes these "perfect" images:





Like really? They're not even that great Duckie did have one or two STANDOUT images - though they were virtually ALL early on in the cycle



and then this:




I won't talk about the absolutely fucked up robbage that was the Cycle 8 finale because Shanali deserves that one. Put it simply, whatever.... Cycle 8 finale was tragic.

Post show, Duckie has kind of done... nothing that great.
