If this were a proper
ranking, rather than a rankdown, Clare would almost definitely be in the top 25, maaaybe even top 20 but it's not and so, once again, I am being faced with all the difficult decisions while PDC will get two random early boots to choose from and end up with no blood on her hands
So, why am I cutting Clare now? Well, to me, Clare is the epitome of another type of girl we get on AusNTM, a caricature rivalled only by "bogan princess" in how frequently the producers roll it out and, in fact, Clare is the second cut in a row I have had to do from our field of "privileged white suburban girls". Clare was pretty, very professional (to the point of being almost robotic at times, it was as though you could input instructions and she would perform them in an automated fashion) and photographed very well but, ultimately, all of her photos just end up looking like what they are: professional photos of a pretty private high school student:
Although - there is
one photo Clare took during her time on AusNTM that pretty much stopped me dead in my tracks and almost single-handedly prevented me from making this decision just based on its existence alone:
Yeah, that shot is piercing. I know
technically we shouldn't be counting the girls' work outside of AusNTM but, seriously, Clare's has been... let's say... less than stellar.
Which, coupled with her perfection that didn't just border on bland, it took bland in one hand, boring in the other and smashed you over the head with it for ten weeks while you watched less "professional" girls with much more personality end up being slayed one by one is enough for me to feel sound in this decision knowing I won't lose any sleep tonight.
Robo-Clare would ultimately take it all the way up to the top 3 before Privileged White Suburbs Girl was taken down by Bogan Princess, which is the way it always seems to go in AusNTM.
