So things are getting a little rough in the AusNTM rankdown and PDC has vowed that Abbie would not survive this cycle regardless of my decision here so at least with the choice I am making here I get the opportunity to give Abbie the write up she deserves.
Abbie was Cycle 8's bright shining light - a girl who had a neon personality and was bright and bubbly and talented and focused. She performed consistently well during her run in the competition and managed to crack the top 4 almost without breaking a sweat. Abbie had a girl-next-door vibe to her that made it easy to want to see her do well so when she really hit her stride late in the cycle (around episode 8 Abbie rocketed up the call-out list and began getting consistently called out early rather than earlier in the season where she sat in the middle of the pack) it started to feel like she was a genuine contender for the title. Especially when she started turning out photos like this one, which was universally praised.
She even got first call-out in episode 10 after giving us this haunting photo at the androgynous 90's B&W photoshoot. An episode 10 first call-out made it seem like Abbie was a lock for the live finale...
But, as I've mentioned before, Cycle 8 was all sorts of fucked up when it came to boot order and Abbie was eliminated just one step away from the live finale and the public vote which I have ZERO doubts she would have SMASHED, making her the winner of Cycle 8 instead of that fucking insect thing that did end up winning. So, in my heart, Abbie is the rightful winner of AusNTM Cycle 8, which is why PDC forcing her out of the rankdown in favour of Izzy is something I will not forgive or forget so mark my words, there will be repercussions for this.
Post AusNTM, Abbie has been signed by IMG Models, which is the sign of a truly successful model, and recently walked the runway for Zimmerman's Summer 2015 collection so she is going places.
Abbie's look is incredible versatile, she can do glamour, beauty or turn up the heat when the brief calls for it and go nuclear sex-bomb too.
All in all, with a killer personality, a slightly goofy yet loveable demeanour and the talent, focus and drive to succeed in her chosen profession, Abbie Weir is a true AusNTM success story and that makes her a rare commodity.
