Re: Crashcourse Barbados: Season 2 (Congrats, Sylvia!)

Postby Vocal Fry » Mon Jul 28, 2014 10:54:39 pm

Crashcourse Barbados started off like any normal season, with two tribes of 10: the Oistin Tribe in yellow and the Bathsheba Tribe in pink. Over the opening weekend, the players were asked to rank their tribe members from best to worst. After that, the results were then compiled, and at the first event, it was announced that the three lowest-ranking members of each tribe would be removed from the tribe to join a new, third, "misfit" tribe. This tribe was the Hillaby Tribe, wearing blue. They would then be joined by a returning player from Season 1, Morgan. The twist shocked the players and turned the game on it's head. Suddenly the players on the bottom of the totem pole got a wakeup call and a second chance to start playing the game hard, while the other players suddenly lost their easy vote-offs and had to play even harder than they had before to stay alive.

In the opening challenge, Hillaby shocked everyone when they won first place in a strong showing. Bathsheba got third and went to tribal, where they tragically had to vote out Stephannie, who would have otherwise have been safe without the twist. In the following challenges, Hillaby lost twice and the game blew up even more when Ceceilia organized the boots of Cassandra and Erica who were initially in control of the tribe. Meanwhile, the tribes were forced to complete difficult tasks each round to get hidden immunity idol clues, such as solving puzzles or making a thousand posts. HIllaby and Bathsheba got to work and came together to get the clues, while Rocky, on Oistin, adamantly spoke out about getting the clues and promised to eliminate anyone who went after them. The Oistin tribe did not attempt to get the clues.

The following round saw a double boot, where Hillaby finally managed to win again. Oistin went to their first ever Tribal Council and took out the quiet Alex, with Sylvia and Rocky emerging as competing figureheads of the tribe. On Bathsheba, one of the most explosive Tribal Councils in Crashcourse history took place, which opened with Parvati flashing her idol and vowing to take our Penner, who wanted to vote for Parvati as "insurance" in case she didn't have an idol. Parvati rallied JP to vote for Penner, because JP was the backup vote. JP followed and watched in shock as Parvati was right. The vote was tied 3 ways between Penner, JP, and Parvati, but Parvati played her idol forcing a revote. Jenny flipped to side with Parvati and sent Penner home.

Following this, a swap took place, shaking up the dynamics once again. Bathsheba lost first and decided to take out villainess Cecelia, while Oistin lost the next round and blindsided Brad, who was an original Bathbhseba on the tribe, despite him coming from the misfit Hillaby tribe. Another double round followed, forcing Bathsheba and Oistin back to Tribal. Bathsheba, low in numbers, took out Cecelia's ally Candice, and Oistin saw some excitement as Nate played an idol and negated enough votes to take out big threat Mellisa. Nate managed to use the clues he earned on Bathsheba to find the untouched Oistin idol.

The three tribes finally merged. The merge round saw Earl be blindsided after most of the original Oistin members were teamed up against. Edgardo followed the next round. At the Final 10, the classic "Immunity Takedown" dilemma returned where 3 players could claim immunity for an unknown consequence. Feeling they were all in danger, Sylvia, Michelle, and Parvati all grabbed immunity, and at tribal, JP, who had received votes and nearly went home at every pre-merge tribal he attended, was finally sent home. Morgan played her hidden immunity idol (found on her days at Hillaby) on Jenny, but Jenny didn't need it as she only received 2 votes.

At the Final 9, Morgan won immunity, and was faced with "Nick's Dilemma"- take immunity for the present round, take it for the future round, or take it for both rounds and forfeit her vote. Morgan chose to take immunity for both rounds, feeling that she could afford to give up her vote. After dominating the first few rounds of the merge, the dominating alliance, consisting of Jenny, Nate, Morgan, Ozzy, and Parvati, along with Rocky and Yau Man, who had flipped to join them, decided it was time to trim some fat. They then blindsided Parvati for her tendency to overperform in Tribal Councils and for her challenge strength. Sitting pretty, the Bathsehba alliance saw no imminent threats on their path to the end of the game. But this was not the case, as Rocky and Yau Man decided to flip back to Michelle and Sylvia and re-form an Oistin alliance. Jenny was blindsided, turning the game on its head. Morgan, no longer immune, followed shortly after.

The pot was stirred once again at the Final 6 when Sylvia felt that Rocky was not fit to play the game any longer. She, along with Michelle, orchestrated his 3-2-1 elimination to prevent him from being a goat at the Final Tribal Council. Michelle had a similar idea at the Final 5 when she turned on Sylvia and Yau Man to help Ozzy and Nate vote out Yau Man 3 to 2 to ensure that only the biggest threats made their way to the Final 4. At the Final 4, in a long immunity challenge, Nate won his first immunity and secured himself a spot in the Final 3. The target turned to Ozzy and Sylvia, the two biggest personalities left in the game. Sylvia, who had clawed her way to the top after being a target from early on in the merge, received 2 votes. The other two votes went to Ozzy, an early social threat who had one of the biggest falls from grace Crashcourse has ever seen as his power slowly slipped away from him, showing how delusional and self-entitled he could be when he could not fathom why people could possible want him out. In the tiebreaker, Sylvia and Ozzy were sent to find a hidden Immunity Fire, which Sylvia found first. Ozzy became the final member of the jury.

At the Final Tribal Council, Michelle was the odds-on favorite to win, but failed to inspire confidence in her game with her answers to the jury's questions. Nate was seen as a good social player, but his position in the Final 3 was seen as more of a fluke than being attributed to his skill, so he was largely ignored. Sylvia laid it all on the line, claiming that she came to play hard, have fun, and ensure that good people stayed in the game. This allowed her to win the jury's votes and gave her the 5-3-1 win over Michelle, who got second, and Nate, who got third.

There were no regular episode updates for this beyond the first one, but I did post round-by-round blurbs before the finale:

Here's a quick recap of the pre-merge:

After the tribes were split up from 2 tribes to 3 tribes, and joined by returning player Morgan, Bathsheba lost the first puzzle challenge and had to make a tough decision to vote out STEPHANNIE well before her time.

Hillaby, the "misfit tribe," finally lost and decided to blindside CASSANDRA.

Hillaby lost again and went straight after Cassandra's old ally, the very vocal and loud ERICA.

Hillaby finally got another win, while Oistin and Bathsheba both lost the Hot Tamale challenge and were BOTH sent to a double tribal council. Oistin got rid of dead weight ALEX and PENNER was idol'd out by Parvati in a shocking blindside.

After the players expected something to happen at the Final 16, they were surprised to learn that it wouldn't be a tribe dissolve, but a switch between the tribes. Bathsheba failed miserably in a spamming challenge while Hillaby began a long streak of dominance. Bathsheba blindsided former Hillaby figurehead CECILIA.

At another challenge, NuHillaby dominated once again while Oistin couldn't get it together. They blindsided the unsuspecting BRAD.

In the final immunity challenge before the merge, it was revealed to be another double elimination. Hillaby took an early dominant lead the the 3 ball challenge, but JP managed to make up some ground before the challenge ended. Ultimately, Hillaby won while Bathsheba took out the unsuspecting CANDICE and Oistin had the shocking elimination of social queen MELLISA after Nate idol'd her out.

I started this last season, and I'd like to continue it as a tradition to post what I think each player will be remembered for.

Stephannie: Became the first voted out due to the unfortunate tribe split twist at the beginning of the game, despite being a well-liked social player.

Cassandra: Was blindsided by a new power alliance that formed on the "misfit" Hillaby Tribe because she was too close to fellow tribemate Erica.

Erica: After being one of the most vocal and biggest personalities, she was voted out as the Hillaby Tribe decided to finish what they started in blindsiding Cassandra. Her fight and spirit lived on in her friendship with Sylvia from the Oistin Tribe.

Alex: Became somewhat of a controversial presence on the Oistin Tribe after they finally decided to boot him over the obvious choices in outcast Earl and Syliva.

Penner: Left in one of the most exciting tribal councils in the game after Parvati publicly called Penner out for wanting to vote for her as "insurance." Parvati played her idol, resulting in a tie vote between him and JP. Penner shockingly left in the revote.

Cecilia: Despite being ranked low socially and being sent to the Hillaby Tribe at the beginning of the game, Cecilia used the opportunity to turn her game around and become one of the strongest forces pre-merge, picking off tribemates at her own will and controlling her alliance. Her game caught up with her at the tribe swap when she was finally blindsided.

Brad: Started off the game by not showing up much, but used his time on the Hillaby Tribe to rework his social game. He was poised to go far until the tribe swap sent him alone on a tribe with mostly former Oistin members, where he was blindsided, thinking Sylvia would go before him.

Mellisa: Started out as one of the strongest players in the game with her alliance-mate Michelle, and even though everyone knew how strong she was, nobody could touch her... that is, until Nate played his immunity idol at the last double-tribal before the merge, sending Mellisa home in a disappointing 14th place.

Candice: Failed to get a solid footing in the game and was sent to the Hillaby Tribe early on. After the tribe swap, she could only watch as her so-called ally Cecilia was voted out. Candice followed soon after, just shy of the merge.

Earl: Played a solid social game early on (allowing him to escape the boot and work his way into the center of two tribes), but was sent home first at the merge for being perceived as too much of a sleeper threat.

Edgardo: Luck worked in Edgardo's favor through the entire pre-merge as he always seemed to just barely avoid being the vote target. After he formed a strong bond with Michelle on the Bathsheba Tribe at the first swap, he was voted out for being too much of a threat after voting with the minority at Earl's boot.

JP: Received votes at every pre-merge tribal council he went to, just barely avoiding being the boot each time. At the merge, he turned his back on his new allies Michelle and Edgardo, only to be cut loose by his old friend Nate after Michelle, Sylvia, and Parvati each took immunity at a crucial challenge to save themselves.

Parvati: Made herself one of the most abrasive presences in the game and thrived on "performing" in tribals (attacking Penner and helped send him home by playing her idol and played dumb, pretending she was going home the night that Earl left). She was cut loose by her alliance to prevent her from going TOO far in the game and putting up another crazy performance.

Jenny: She was the strongest social and strategic member of her Bathsheba alliance and would have more than likely gone all the way had it not have been for an unfortunate power shift. She was sent packing as the 4 remaining Oistin banded together to form a majority over her, Ozzy, Nate, and Morgan (who had previously forfeited her vote in exchange for a double immunity).

Morgan: She was next in line to go after Jenny due to her status as a huge challenge threat. Despite going out at 7th place, she was another one of the strongest players pre-merge after finding an idol and putting together a strong alliance of misfit players. She was immune for almost every post-merge vote leading up to her elimination.

Rocky: Established himself as a strong presence on the Oistin Tribe early on by refusing to allow his tribe to work for hidden immunity idol clues. At the merge, he flipped to stay alive by working with the Bathsheba alliance until he helped join the short-lived Oistin 4. He was blindsided at the Final 6 by trying to eliminate Michelle, who caught on to the plan and organized a 3-2-1 vote.

Yau Man: Floated throughout almost the entire game, and even though he knew it, he was never able to find a chance to make a solid, respected move. Even though everyone thought he was a lock for a goat spot in the finals, he was blindsided at the Final 5 by Michelle.

Ozzy: Played an insanely good strategic game pre-merge, until the pressure of the individual game got to him at the merge and he went off the deep end. By pandering for jury votes and believing in delusions of grandeur about his own chances at the Final Tribal Council, Ozzy psyched himself out of the game by having to go into a tie vote at the Final 4 where he was eliminated in the tiebreaker challenge.

Nate: Played a very solid game early on and caused the elimination of social queen Mellisa by idoling her out. He managed to hold on and stay in the game long after his alliance fell apart due to an idol feign play and made the Final Tribal Council by winning the final immunity challenge. Despite doing so well, his inexperience as a player showed at the FTC where he was unable to sway anyone for more than 1 vote.

Michelle: Entered the merge as the unlikely underdog and used her sharp whit and fierce attitude to claw her way back to the top. She helped take control from the Bathsheba alliance at the Final 8, but didn't stop there as she made moves to eliminate Rocky and Yau Man before the Final 4, thus ensuring herself a spot in the finals (after also shockingly escaped getting votes, save for Rocky's single vote at the Final 6). Despite entering the FTC as the clear favorite, she couldn't secure the votes for the win and finished in second.

Sylvia: Started off the game as someone who was clearly just trying to have fun, but she quickly worked her way into the inner workings of the Oistin Tribe to save herself and Earl from being booted. From there, she entered the merge as a free agent who played with her gut (and also managed to gain a few laughs by playing a "Hidden Immunity dILDO"). Her passion for the game and unconventional style stood out at the FTC, allowing her to gain enough crucial swing votes to secure the win.

This really was a great season and I had a lot of fun playing it. Oistin <3 Really the entire cast was active and invested. Except I guess Alex... and Cassandra, which is funny in retrospect. :P

Technically, Oistin is the only CC tribe to have 2 winners. Therefore, Oistin is best CC.tribe
