Okay I love Alex, don't get me wrong. I'd have LOVED for her to win cycle 4 over Demelza and her managing to edge out the bitches Alyce and Bec was high.goddess level amazing. But Alex just isn't a model, like she just isn't I hate to say it. She photographs super old and isn't versatile at all. The reason she's such a belle of the ball is because her Top Model story is one of the most brilliant in the show's history in my opinion. She was the perfect match, and superior to the bitchketeers of cycle 4 - the casting could only have been better if she could model as well and actually snatched the victory.

Alex was that girl whose confessionals you just ate up. TELL ME MORE, TELL ME MORE, you would screech at your television screen like one of the Pink Ladies on speed. Her confessionals were all you wanted to hear. Trojan likes to tell himself that this person was Leiden, but he's super fucking wrong about that. Leiden wasn't that person for me, she was just some dropkick lazy bitch (sorry bout it) and I don't agree with her low-30s placement at ALL.

This 30-second clip is from her giving her initial impression of fellow contestant Alyce - it is pure GOLD, and is a perfect example of the high quality commentary she gave us throughout the entire cycle.



Then when you add that to this first photoshoot:



We all know she got pushed through because the producers knew she was going to be GOLDEN as the show went on. In episode 2, shockingly, it was Alex who had the model meltdown over her make-over, and it was just because they were giving here a long bob which she'd "already done before and [she] wanted something new" - not even kidding lol, she was too caught up in not revisiting a look she used to have. She even called her boyfriend crying about it, reminding us all that even 20 year olds - old ladies in the model competition world - are immature as fuck sometimes It came to a head at a catwalk challenge the next day where their mentor literally played the DEAL WITH IT card <3

She then wins the same challenge, and her long-term feud with winner Demelza comes very swiftly into the Top Model cycle 4 storyline.

I won't harp on about the Alex-Demelza feud because tbh it's not as interesting when you're not watching it yourself. It's just a whole heap of little things that come together to make an amazing storyline - #EditingStaffAllGotBonuses - what I will tell you about is the time Alex made carb-loaded muffins to try and make the other girls gain weight.

About halfway through the cycle we viewers find out that Alex has been generously making muffins for all the girls to eat at their leisure - those who are body conscious stay away because... well they're muffins. The bitchketeer backup brutes - aka Alyce and Bec - are greedy pigs and chow down on the free food. Alex is so nice, amirite? Well.... it turns out that Alex had been using high-carb ingredients in a bid to make the girls with poor eating habits gain weight and boy did it work - Caris, a girl who was criticised in episode 1 for being a "jelly bottle" even made a comment that her and Alyce had switched hip measurements pwnt.

Of course, most girls gave no fucks because LOL but the "victims" Bec and Alyce were sure as fuck shitty about the situation. That was pretty great, but they couldn't even complain to anyone because they'd eaten the muffins themselves and the judges had been on everyone's case about healthy eating.

So the competition goes on and Alex is still managing to do great even though she's clearly not really model-potential. She lands her place in the Final 2 with this first-call-out image:



Kind of underwhelming, right? Such is the way of the production desire to get the best storyline to the Finale. And then when Finale came, we had this really weird moment of insane robbage. The score was 3-Alex, 2-Demelza between the judges and they decided to cut away to Cycle 3 winner Alyce to reveal who would be the Next Top Model - and somehow it was................Demelza? huh? Where did those two votes come from that she clearly needed to win?

We will never know.

Post show, Alex has had no career. Like at all. I mean... this is what her portfolio looks like:

Alright, sorry for the delay - Cycle 6's final cut will be posted later this evening so be prepared! Then PDC will play her Sarah Murdoch Save on Izzy and I will have to do a final Cycle 6 write up on......??? and I am planning for the down-time between cycles to be minimal.

Cycle 7 is where things will get insane - every save puts a girl through to the final cycle as a potential winner, every cut sends a girl out of the running for good. All of the hard work has been building to this and we're close to it paying off and I am excited!

Mads is easily in my top three favorite characters in the entire history of the show and was the girl I was cheering for the hardest in Cycle 2 as she was easily the most outrageous girl we had ever (and maybe still have ever) seen on AusNTM history. There were very few girls I would have been prepared to save over Madeleine and I wanted her to make a top 10 appearance so badly and yet, here we are.



Remember , who PDC cut back in Cycle 5 of this Rankdown at #47? Well, while the other girls were off at that bootcamp elimination, Madeleine gets the *superstar* treatment of arriving directly to the model house, skipping all of that wearing pink sweats bullshit and obstacle course garbage because you do not make your star of the season go through of all that honey, no way.

So, Madeleine arrives by private car to the model house and immediately proceeds to get glammed up and start pouring herself some champagne because she is fabulous when the other girls arrive confused and startled, some of them mistaking Madeleine for a freaking host because of how gorgeous she is and how obvious her superstar personality puts them all back in their place. Once they realise that this girl is actually competing against them, we get this priceless moment:




So Mads is labelled "The Intruder" (a Big Brother term, which leads me to the quick tangent about how Big Brother verbiage dominated reality tv lexicon at the time, and still does to a massive degree. People would always say "voted out of the house" or "evicted from the house" no matter what the competition was actually about), but almost immediately puts a lot of noses out of joint by being outrageously[/] comfortable with her body at the naked crystal photoshoot and [i]abhorrently at ease with sexuality by trying to hook up with Lara in the hot tub during the wild episode 1 party where Lara's response is to go and drunkenly shave off Hiranthi's eyebrow. Girl, you should have spent your time macking on Mads in the hot tub (also, Hiranthi's saved eyebrow deserves a HM in this Rankdown as I think it has been my most referred to moment).

But, fuck da h8trs, because, in the very next episode, we get the Jessica French "Madeleine is hot" quote when selecting Mads as her challenge prize buddy and Madeleine scores big-time with the stylist on set of the circus theme shoot, making out with the dude and giving all the girls a hardcore case of the jealousies when she then smashes out the best photo of the entire lot and ascends to the top-tier of contenders for the cycle.




Then, boom again, follows that up with the double first call-out in the next photoshoot where the girls had to display an emotion and Mads was assigned "raw anger". It kills me that this is seriously the largest version of this photo I could find and goddammit I want these early cycle photoshoots put up somewhere in high-res at a viewable size and do not know why that can't be a thing?



So, by episode 4, Madeleine is clearly the star of the show, but also the girl who is getting most set-up to be robbed by the cycle's eventual outcome *spoiler alert: pretty shitty winner*.

Once the whole "Ebonigate" affair plays out (stay tuned if you don't know what we're referring to), Madeleine is giving the "you've lost your spark" treatment by the judges. Then, cop this, she is dutifully eliminated for the crime of "standing out too much" after the joke of a photoshoot that was the Pinocchio shoot, which the judges feel comes across as "disingenuous". Like, sorry that the girl has such obvious star quality that it but your other contestants to shame. Also, this is a shit photo to go out on.



Eliminated in 4th place. Some would say this is a good result, one to be proud of, but I will go to my grave saying Madeleine deserved to be in that F2 and her elimination ranks highly on my list of All-Time Biggest Pieces of Bullshit This Show Has Ever Tried To Pull Off list.

Post-show, Madeleine has had a fairly low-key, but varied modelling portfolio, mixing up commercial and high-fashion shoots but not really establishing herself as a house-hold name, unlike Sophie. Here's a small selection of the different looks Mads has been able to achieve since being on the show.



So - bitch know how to wurk and is easily one of my favorite girls to ever have gone into the "model house" and, as I said earlier, there aren't many girls left in the Rankdown that would have held a candle to her in a face-to-face but maybe soon I'll get the chance to talk a little bit more about Sophie and why she was good enough to topple the giant force that was Madeleine Rose?

So, Cycle 6 is wrapped! I realise I am putting this up PAINFULLY early as I had a very early night last night like the old man PDC knows I actually am so we will know in a few hours what decision she is making with her Sarah Murdoch save as she is the ranker with the power and then we will close-off Cycle 6 and head into the arena of death that will be our penultimate cycle!
