Laura was... not a very good model. Irrespective of her racial background, she took deadpan, boring photos, wasn't aware of how to connect what her body was doing with her face and didn't give us interesting/entertaining confessionals.
Laura started off the cycle looking like a damp squid on a rock and wasn't even remotely on my radar after the first episode. Cycle 5 had, probably, the weakest all-around cast (as evidenced by the fact that we now have one girl remaining from that entire cycle left in the rankdown), so not standing out in this particular cycle is an even more atrocious crime than it would be normally.
It was very uncomfortable hearing Charlotte call Laura "Squinty McSquinty-Eyes" though for reasons that should be obvious to us but weren't to her at the time.
But yeah, Laura squints. A lot. That's a fact.
To her credit, Laura bounced back and received a lot of praise in episode 2, even getting the first call-out and having her photo added to the 8 page spread of Cosmo that was on offer. So here, in its full-sized glory, is Laura M's crowning moment on AusNTM.
From there though, things quickly went downhill for Laura. She was kept over Madison in a shocking decision by the judges after the South Australia shoot but was then routinely dumped the very next episode anyways.
She's also one of the Cycle 5 girls who appears to have given up on modelling after the show as her portfolio is sadly lacking with this, perhaps, her best shot in the bunch.
She also apparently alternates between "bored/whaddya want?" and "resting bitch face" as her two "go-to" modelling modes:
In any case, she was one of the girls I was most worried about skating through this cycle and think this is a far better spot for her than she deserves.
